The world is gradually getting better for children with disabilities with the global inclusive policy initiatives, and parents and guardians with children with disabilities must draw strength from this fact, the Publisher/ Chief Executive Officer of INCLUSION Magazine, Abdulrahman Hussaini, has said.

He said this while celebrating with Children with Disabilities on the occasion of the

Abdulrahman said the Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act signed into law by Presient Muhammadu Buhari on January 2019 has “adequately protected the right of people with disabilities in the country.”

The law stipulates a fine of N100,000 on individual and N1 million on corporate entities or a prison term of six months, that violate the right of a person with disability in the country.

The law also mandated all public organisations to reserve at least five percent of job opportunities for persons with disabilities.

“The Act has ushered in a new era on the rights and privileges of Persons with Disabilities in all sectors of the nation’s development process to include education and health care as well as equitable treatment in accommodation and emergencies when and where expedient,” Abdulrahman said.

“Let me assure you that INCLUSION will be a voice against injustices and abuses of human rights on Persons with Disabilities…Together let us fight to make Nigeria an inclusive society, where the children who are leaders of tomorrow will not be discriminated or stigmatized for reasons of disability, but rather join hands to build a progressive nation.”
