Wakili Arewa Nupe Charges All On The Health Care Of Persons With Disability

Publisher/CEO of AK Global Concepts,publishers of the INCLUSION Magazine and Wakili Arewa Nupe, Hussani Abdulrahman has called on relevant stakeholders in the health sector as well as parents to give more priority to the health of persons with disability saying that many had died due to lack of access to health care.
He made the call recently at a press conference while speaking with Journalists on the occasion to celebrate Children with Disabilities held at Rockview Hotel, Wuse 2, Abuja. He said while using the medium to celebrate children with disabilities as they are an integral part of the nation’s population, parents and guardians must not leave their responsibility in providing health care for children with disabilities especially those who have such generations living with them so as to draw strength from the fact that the world is gradually getting better for their wards even with the global inclusive policy initiatives.
Abdulrahman while commending President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR for signing into law on the Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act which prohibits all forms of discriminations against Persons with Disabilities as well as penalising an individual found violating the provisions of the Act, with a fine of N100,000 or a term of six months imprisonment, maintained that the Act has ushered in a new era on the rights and privileges of Persons with Disabilities in all sectors of the nation’s development process to include education and health care as well as equitable treatment in accommodation and emergencies when and where expedient.
Abdulrahman also assured that INCLUSION Magazine will be a voice against injustices and abuses of human rights on Persons with Disabilities hence everyone must come to term with the saying of Martina Navratilova a Czechoslovak-born American that, “disability is a matter of perception, if you can do just one thing well, you are needed by someone”.
He called on relevant stakeholders both in the health sector to make Nigeria an inclusive society, where the children who are leaders of tomorrow will not be deprived of quality health care or discriminated upon for reasons of disability, but rather join hands to build a progressive nation where these group of children will have access to health services and they are given priority in all spheres of their lives for a healthier society.
The publisher urged citizens to change their perceptions and myths on disabilities, but rather encourage ability in disabilities of persons with a view to raising children that will be leaders of tomorrow, adding that INCLUSION Magazine continues to cover all facets of life; and are open to partnership with any organizations that are committed to improving the plight of Persons with Disabilities.
Government should remove those conditions by implementing WHO -FCTC compliant laws and policies. So, we are using the occasion of this years WNTD to call on the Nigerian government to begin comprehensive enforcement of the National Tobacco Control Act 2015 and the National Tobacco Control Regulations 2019.
