The Albino Foundation Public Notice
Three lecturers at the University of Ibadan, Adebolajo Adeyemo, Associate Prof. Bolanle Oladejo, and Oluwasola Adeniji, have introduced a locally made “Chord Hearing Device.”
The innovative device, which is affordable and self-programmable, was developed by the team as a solution to the challenge of accessible and affordable hearing aid devices in Nigeria.
The project received sponsorship from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) under its TETFund Alliance for Innovative Research program.
The TETFund Acting Director of Public Affairs, Abdulmumin Oniyangi, stated that the innovation was selected to be showcased at the esteemed Sheba ARC Global Entrepreneurship Programme.
The team, led by Dr. Adeyemo, presented their Chord Hearing Device at the program, where startups from various countries collaborated to find solutions to healthcare challenges over a 12-week period.
Impressed by the viability of Dr. Adeyemo’s idea, he was chosen among 11 healthcare researchers from different continents to present their innovations to investors and experts at the final event of the Sheba ARC Global Entrepreneurship program in Israel.
Furthermore, his innovation and pitch earned him a place among the three startups that presented their innovations at the ARC Global Summit in Tel Aviv on June 14, 2023.
The development of the Chord Hearing Device is still ongoing, with user tests being conducted to refine the prototype based on feedback.
