Armed thugs, numbering about 100 have stormed the office of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Kaduna State on Wednesday.

The office is the meeting point of workers in the state who are protesting the sacking of their colleagues by the state government.

The thugs were, however, stopped by a police detachment while about 20 of them were arrested.

The police Public Relations Officer, ASP Muhammad Jalige, confirmed the arrest, saying security personnel have been deployed to avert break down of law and order.

Meanwhile the protest turned violent yesterday when thugs attacked protesters at NEPA roundabout along Ahmadu Bello Way.

Thugs had disrupted the activities of the protesters by hurling stones at them before they were chased away by security operatives.

The protests continued on Wednesday as the protesters converged on the secretariat, chanting, “No retreat! no surrender!”

The protest held at the NEPA roundabout along Ahmadu Bello Way later continued after the attack.
