the Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons With Disabilities, Mr. James David Lalu lauded the roles the paramilitaries play in ensuring safety, peace and order in the Nigeria as a whole and persons with disabilities in particular.  The ES said this in Abuja during a sensitization programme organised for senior Officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

Lalu explained the role of the Police Force in ensuring justice for persons with disabilities, he enumerated the enumerated commonalities of inclusion which revolves around Accessibility, Equality, Social Integration, Fundamental Human Rights and Dignity of PWDs which the Force need to improve upon.

The Executive Secretary admonished the Police officers to use their positions and office to assist the PWD on  their various communities. He pointed out that persons with disabilities faced discrimination daily but  however, reiterated that the discrimination is not peculiar to Nigeria alone but also in most parts of the world.

He however, bemoaned some high ranking officers who refuse Persons with disabilities when they seek interventions in accessing justice.

In his response, ACP Egbe Raymond of the X -Squard Awka Division, Anambra State,  explained that the speech by the Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons With Disabilities, Mr. James David Lalu is eye opener to new horizon for officers of the Force on how best to carry out their obligations with consideration to Persons With Disabilities. He therefore pledged the  determination of the force to serve the society, especially persons with disabilities with a balanced mindset.
