NCPWD To Ensure Effective Monitoring And Evaluation Of All Programs By The Commission
The Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Dr. James David Lalu has said that in order to ascertain if progress is made and expected results are being achieved, and bottlenecks in implementations are spotted and to highlight whether there are any unintended effects, the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit is necessary and very central to the progress of the Commission.
The ES made this disclosure recently in Abuja at a 3 day Workshop on building Capacity to Develop and Operationalize a Framework for the Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation of the Commission’s 5 year Strategic Plan and it’s Operational Policies.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary stated that the occasion was designed to acquaint employees of the Commission with the fundamental knowledge in appraising their performances periodically.
He further stressed that the 2022-2026 Strategic Plan was designed to guide the overarching goals and objectives of the Commission for the inclusions of Persons with disabilities across Nigeria.
He, however, reiterated that the purpose of the Strategic Plan was to set overall goals for the Commission and to develop a plan towards achieving them and as it involves helping the Commission to stay on track to pull off its term of office within the stipulated period of time.
“The Plan is approaching its midterm and must be tailored to align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda” he disclosed.
In addition, the ES informed that the usual form of communication in Civil Service is changing from analogue to a digitally explicit communication, which simply means that each Department and office is expected to work in tandem with clear goals and objectives.
“As the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Dr. Yemi-Esan said recently, all the FCSSIP25 pillars are anchored on digitalization, and for the service to run with these pillars, it must digitalize its work processes, so the Commission must leverage on technology to drive the National goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda of this administration” he further informed.
On that foundation, the ES as well mandated that proposals or memo in the Commission must contain the right Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and a clear-cut approach of the presentations showing the targeted interests.
He appreciated the World Bank for a valuable partnership with the Commission and their efforts on the successful implementation of the Commission’s 5- year strategic plan.
