NCPWD, Peniel Foundation Partner To Improve Representation In Public And Private Sector

A non-government organization, Peniel Foundation is seeking to collaborate with the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) to provide opportunities for persons with disabilities can contribute their quota to nation building.
Aisha Dirisum, Founder of Peniel Foundation who paid a working visit to the Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) added that they would strategy on ways to collaborate with the Commission to improve the lots of persons with disabilities in line with the commission’s mandate.
Aisha Dirisum, Founder of Peniel Foundation highlighted the mission of the organization which is about Building an inclusive African continent where PWD contributes to nation-building.
A feat that the organization intend to achieve by strengthening the capacity of persons with disabilities, increase access to decent and equal jobs and empower employers to build a more inclusive workforce and accessible workplace.
She mentioned some of their programs such as Chevening Scholarship Workshop which she is partnering with British High Commission & CBM to increase representation of persons with disabilities as beneficiaries of the scholarship. She informed that on 20th July 2020, an attendee was awarded the Chevening Scholarship.
She spoke about E-mentoring program which was launched during the pandemic to connect youths with disabilities in Africa with successful Mentors around the world for their personal and professional development.
“Three of our mentees have gotten internship opportunities, one is about to be employed by a radio house” she added.
She also spoke about Peniel Inspiration Series which provided opportunity for the organization to render mental and emotional support to youths with disabilities during the Covid lock-down by inviting successful persons with disabilities to share their stories to inspire them
The ES commended the work of the organization and expressed willingness for the Commission to partner with Peniel Foundation in their future programs and projects to ensure more representation of PWDs in public and private organizations in Nigeria.
