NCPWD Moves To Establish Model Inclusive Schools For PWD In Each Geopolitical Zone

The National Commission for Persons with Disabilities plans to establish model schools for Persons with Disabilities (PWD) across the six geopolitical zones of the country. The Executive Secretary of NCPWD, Mr. James Lalu, disclosed this yesterday, during a press conference to mark the one-year anniversary of the Commission in Abuja, he explained that the Commission is making efforts to ensure PWDs enjoy free education from primary to secondary school as enshrined the disability law.

He also state that the Commission is working in collaboration with United Kingdom to award scholarships to PWD to study in the UK. “Some PWD are preparing to leave Nigeria to study abroad and a lot of them will be leaving for the UK next year on scholarship”.

“Our commitment to this has led us to open partnerships with some universities in the United States and UK to provide education for PWDs from Nigeria. We are strategising on how we can motivate PWD to learn technical skills outside Nigera, which they can bring back to help the disabled.”

The Director Finance and Account, Mr. Innocent Ishidi presented pictorial historic achievements and landmarks of the Commission in the past one year.
