The registrar of the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, has revealed that most institutions are guilty of awarding fake certificates to persons who never attended their institutions.

Speaking during the opening ceremony of the National Youth Service Corps 2021 batch B pre-mobilisation workshop, Oloyede noted that that awarding of fake university certificates to people would damage the development of the education system in the country.

Oloyede said a lot of people were not happy with the JAMB for introducing National Identity Number (NIN) as a pre-requisite to sit for the examination adding that that singular act has crashed malpractice, especially impersonation of candidates.

NYSC Director-General, Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, said there had been tremendous improvements in data integrity, reduction in entry errors and renewed dedication by student affairs and data entry officers of corps-producing institutions.

However, he noted that few cases of wrong doings were also identified “hence we shall not shy away from applying sanctions on erring institutions and officials to serve as deterrent to others.”
