The Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons With Disabilities, Mr. James David Lalu has commended the Executive Director of Disability Rights Advocacy Center (DRAC), Mrs Irene Patrick-Ogbogu for her continuous and aggressive drive in the collection of data from Persons with disabilities in all government and private sectors.
He made this known at a 2 -Day training for OPDs and CSOs on Advocacy for Disability- Inclusive Data Collection and Management, organized by Count disability Coalition , championed by DRAC to educate participants on the need for proper Data collection and processing.
In a press statement signed by the Mbanefo JohnMichael, the Head Media and Publicity the NCPWD boss noted that ensuring the process of accurate disaggregated data collection for proper mainstreaming of PWDs would go along way in uplifting the welfare of persons with disabilities.
Represented by the Ag. Director Social Integration NCPWD, Mr Lawrence Edemudia, Lalu appreciated the organisers and participants for dedicating their time to the data gathering and management process.
He stated that Data is indeed life and extremely important, that Data collection is a prerequisite for acquiring inclusion in every facet of life and encouraged all hands to be on deck continually to entrench proper planning template for PWDs in the society.
Theophilus Odaudu, Program Director, Disability Rights Funds , applauded DRAC and emphasized the importance of Data which can not be undermined. He further encouraged the Coalition to carry the messages and ensure it gets to the nooks and crannies.
The Executive Director, Disabilities Rights Advocacy Centre (DRAC), Mrs. Irene Ogbogu welcomed the Coalition, and other MDAs. She encouraged Participants to get involved in the capacity building of all concerned for the betterment of all stakeholders.
Brilliant Paper Presentations were taken in turns , by JONAPWD Anambra, Mimi Jean Foundation, and Dr. Jide on concrete indicators on the realization of a standard Data aggregating methodology.
The PWD coalitions are optimistic of building substantial capacity required to collect Accurate Disaggregation Data at the end of the programme.
