The Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Persons With Disabilities (NCPWD) Mr James Lalu has commended the members of the National Assembly for championing the rights and welfare of Persons With Disabilities in Nigeria.

Speaking at a two day event which held in Owerri, Imo state, Lalu noted that the community keeps growing in population from time to time.
“It’s estimated to be over 35 million and can no longer remain in that pitiable state in the society” he disclosed.
Lalu in addition, stated that the passage of the 2018 prohibition Act against the Discrimination of persons with disabilities and the recent constitutional review provided more opportunities for PWDs to participate in sensitive legislations and protection of their rights.
The ES thanked the organizers of the programme as he described them as ambassadors of the disability community.
