In commemoration of the International women’s Day, the Executive Secretary National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Dr. James David Lalu has stated that the 2024 theme for the event which is “Invest in Women, Accelerate progress is a notable coinage which also speaks volumes on the inclusions and development of women with disabilities.
The ES made this disclosure in his office today while fielding questions from Newsmen on the relevance of the Day to women with Disabilities.
“Women with Disabilities are full fledged part of the women folk who have overtime proven that with the right investments in their welfare, there is no barrier and huddle that is insurmountable; when you build a woman, you build the world” he said.
However, the Executive Secretary used the medium to wish women a spectacular celebration and urged women with disabilities to join their fellow women in celebration and with their shoulders held high as this Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration is a unique corridor to their welfare.
On the other hand, the Head Women and Gender Unit NCPWD, Mrs Patience Ogolo Dickson in her contributions stated that the 2024 theme was set to push for progress in gender equality, and to accelerate the collective progress of all women.
She further said that Women With Disabilities should be a part of this inspiration for Inclusions at different levels,
“Women With Disabilities are strong, capable resilient and have the ability to inspire and be inspired and very importantly, issues of all women including women with Disabilities should be prioritized to accelerate our collective progress” she said.
Nevertheless, the United Nations has designated the year 2024’s theme as ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress’ with a focus on addressing economic disempowerment, while the campaign theme for this year is ‘Inspire Inclusion’
