
The Albino Foundation Public Notice
The Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure a safe, free, fair and credible election in 2023 and also inclusive for women and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
The Minister made the call during the Electability Confab organized by The Albino Foundation (TAF) with support from the European Union (EU) in Abuja. The Confab was put together to build the capacity of the persons with disabilities and enhance their chances of winning in elections.

The presentations at the Confab were around policy reforms, legislative changes, funding opportunities and other initiatives to enhance understanding of the opportunities to improve PWDs electability in elections. The event was to contribute to the improvement of democratic governance in Nigeria.
The Honourable Minister of Women Affairs lauds the Electability Confab project by the Albino Foundation. She acknowledged that there is ability if everyone with disability. That PWD need the support and non-barrier society to enable them thrive in every sector of the society.
Dame Pauline Tallen said “INEC must support women and PWDs. These are the vulnerable groups that need our total support.
“my special recognition to all PWDs contesting in the next general elections. I admire your courage.
“these are the kind of persons we need to hold elective positions. When we have PWDs in the senate and national assembly, they will ensure that the laws and policies formulated in the country are inclusive.
“we are calling for peaceful election, free of violence and crises. If the polling centres are violence prone, PWDs will be at higher risk.
“I lend my total support and mentorship to women with disabilities contesting in the 2023 election.”
The Electability Confab had in attendance the Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, H. E. James Christoff, the representative of the European Delegation to Nigeria, the Country Director, Action Aid, and convener Situation Room, the Executive Director, Act Initiative, the Chairman and the members of the Board of Trustees of The Albino Foundation, PWDs contesting in the 2023 elections from various states and various federal, state and local governments position, among other dignitaries.
