The Director-General, Gombe Geographic Information System (GOGIS), Dr. Kabiru Usman Hassan, has empowered selected Persons with Physical Disabilities with hand driven tricycles to ease their mobility challenges.

INN reports that at a mini-ceremony held at the premises of the agency in Gombe last Friday, some 10 tricycles were given to lucky beneficiaries who were in dire need of such support to ease the sufferings encountered in moving around.

The DG, represented by the agency’s head of public communications, Musa Abba Musa, said the gesture is part of his initiative to support vulnerable persons in line with Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s desire.

“I have seen the need to help the beneficiaries with these tricycles in order to ease their hardship. I have high regard for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs). I don’t discriminate against them. I always frown at those who stigmatize them. They’re part of us and we must embrace and support them where necessary”, the DG said.

He added that he would continue to support vulnerable persons including PWDs as he had always done, assuring the PWD community in Gombe State of his continuous support.

In his response, Hon. Yakubu Ahmed, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Gombe State on Persons With Disabilities, extended gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries and the entire PWDs community in the State to the benefactor for the gesture.

He urged other government appointees to emulate the DG in committing themselves to selfless acts for the betterment of society.
