A fire has burnt and destroyed shops containing car accessories worth millions of Naira at the Ladipo Spare Parts Market in Mushin area of Lagos State.
Though no death was recorded, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed that the inferno occurred in the early hours of Wednesday.
The Acting Zonal Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency, Ibrahim Farinloye said the shops which was affected housed vehicle air conditioners, engine oil, paints and other car accessories.
He stated that firefighters had a tough time putting out the fire as one of the shops had inflammable items.
Agencies including the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency and its fire unit as well as the Lagos State Government Fire Service were all at the scene to contain the incident.
Residents noted that the fire started at about 6am.
The Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu said no casualties were recorded at the scene of the accident.
“Joint responders comprising the agency and its fire service, LASG Fire service, are on the ground making efforts to put the fire under control and prevent it from spreading to surrounding buildings.”
