In an event organized by the Project Enable Africa recently in Abuja to honour some prominent members of the Disability Community ahead of the forthcoming International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons with Disabilities, Mr James David Lalu has applauded the President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s led Administration for promoting the rights and welfare and dignity of Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria.

“Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda which is a structured agenda for every Nigerian to live a good life today with an assurance of a better living tomorrow has rejuvenated trust and aspirations in various aspects of our day to day approaches to life in Nigeria, and as such I promise a continuous support of Persons with Disabilities for the present Administration” he stated.

While appreciating the Award of honor by Project Enable Africa, Mr. Lalu thanked the group for recognizing his efforts and contributions towards the development of the Disability Community and his struggles to see that Persons with Disabilities have quality life and never to be discriminated against on the account of their Disabilities.

The Executive Secretary further acknowledged the efforts and heroic contributions of other senior members of the Disability Community.

“”You all deserve this honor given to us today by Project Enable Africa, I feel honoured and privileged to be one of you” he said.

The ES as well used the occasion to inform Nigerians that as stipulated by the United Nations General Assembly, the Commission has commenced events for the commemoration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities which is tantatively expected to peak up on the 8th December, 2023.

Nevertheless, Project Enable Africa is a community development initiative that was founded in 2014 to advocate for the rights and empowerments of persons with disabilities in Nigeria.
