The Emir of Gaya Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya has passed away at the age of 91.
The emir died early Wednesday morning after a brief illness.
The emir’s death was confirmed by the Ajiyan Gaya Malam Shamsu Isa Kademi.
The Gaya monarch died in Gaya at the age of 91.
Before his death, he was among the district heads elevated to the rank of first class emirs by the Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
He was appointed as Sarkin Gaya (District Head) of Gaya in 1990.
He held several traditional positions such as district heads of Kunchi and Minjibir, among others.
