The Albino Foundation Public Notice
A digital skills training program, sponsored by the Federal Government and the World Bank, in partnership with Start Innovation Hub, Georgia Consulting, and Crestage Consortium, has commenced in Akwa Ibom State.
The initiative, which kicked off Tuesday in Uyo, the Akwa A’Ibom State capital with an orientation session for over 2,000 applicants, will train approximately 700 individuals on Digital Marketing, Data Analytics, and Cybersecurity.
This training, part of the Innovation, Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) project facilitated by the Federal Ministry of Education, features a significant focus on inclusivity by incorporating Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).
Speaking at the orientation, Chief Executive Officer, Start Innovation Hub, Mr. Hanson Johnson, emphasized that successful applicants would not only receive training but also be connected to job opportunities. Johnson highlighted the special provisions made to ensure PWDs are fully integrated into the program.
He explained that the training, which spans three months of hands-on experience followed by a three-month internship, will equip beneficiaries with technical skills, soft skills, and business development knowledge to either secure jobs or start their own businesses within Akwa Ibom.
Project Coordinator, Mr. Ndifreke Patrick, in his remarks encouraged applicants to commit fully to the training, stressing that it was a valuable opportunity. Instructors also provided overviews of the key focus areas: Digital Marketing, Data Analytics, and Cybersecurity.
Several participants, including PWDs expressed their excitement about the training, and hope that the program would help secure a brighter future, especially for the over 10% participants being PWDs.
