On Monday, 13th June 2022, The Albinism Association Nigeria (AAN) held the International Albinism Awareness Day celebration with the theme “United in Making our Voice” at Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State.

The event was to highlight the challenges of Persons with Albinism in Nigeria and better educate fellow Nigerians on how best to protect the rights of PWAs and PWDs across the country.
The day began with the Albinism Walk with Persons with Albinism creating awareness for a welcome address from Jake Epelle, President of AAN. Distinguished guests, Hon. Dr Ini Adiakpan, Commissioner Ministry of Women Affairs and Social development and James Lalu, Executive Secretary NCPWD, gave their goodwill messages.
Leaders of AAN discussed Skin Cancer Prevention, Eye Care, Albinism Rights, and much more. The day ended with encouragement urging PWA to strive to make their voices heard to increase social awareness and eliminate discrimination.
