Barr Edeh made the call during a training and empowerment program in Abuja for adolescent children with disabilities and their parents.
The Life Skills Training for out-of-school adolescent girls with disabilities in Abuja and Bayelsa state, were supported and funded by the IGNITE Consortium through the Urgent Action Fund (UAF-Africa), as part of an 18-month project designed to increase access to education for 320 out-of-school girls with disabilities in Bayelsa State and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT on relevant skills, mentorship, and educational support.
In her address, Barr Edeh called on the government and parents to ensure that educational opportunities are accessible to children with disabilities.
The Executive Director shared her personal journey as a person with disability. she emphasized that disabilities are not illnesses, but conditions that should be embraced to achieve dreams.
