President Muhammadu Buhari has relieved the Inspector of Police, Mohammed Adamu of his appointment and approved the appointment of DIG Usman Alkali Baba as the acting Inspector General of Police with immediate effect.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammed Maigari Dangyadi, announced this on Tuesday, while briefing State House reporters.

President Buhari had on February 4, 2021, extended the tenure of Mohammed Adamu as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for three months.

His appointment is subject to the approval of the Council of State meeting expected to be convened soon.
