The Plateau government has affirmed its commitment to create 20,000 jobs by 2022 for the state’s youth.

The state government’s plan is contained in a statement issued on Wednesday in Jos by the Secretary of the State Government, Prof. Danladi Atu, at the end of a two-day retreat to review his policies.

The Nigerian News Agency reports that the retreat was organized for members of the state executive council, permanent secretaries, executive directors of boards and parastatal agencies, and special advisers to the governor.

“All Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA) must put all their hands to work to guarantee the commitment to create jobs that will remove 20,000 young people from the unemployment market by 2022.”

According to the document, Governor Simon Lalong‘s administration reaffirmed its determination to prioritize the completion of all critical projects and programs before the end of his administration.

All MDAs were tasked with exploring alternative sources of funding for critical projects and programs, while the option of public-private partnership, PPPs, and donor funding would be strategically adopted.

The withdrawal resolved to adopt the Policy and the State Monitoring and Evaluation Law that will guarantee the automatic monitoring of projects and programs and quarterly review sessions.
