ASAA Builds Support For End Advanced Skin Cancer Scourge In Albinism Persons In Anambra State

The Albinism Cluster head in JONAPWD ANAMBRA STATE ,  Comr. Vivian Ezeonwumelu has advocated for the need for measures to cure and end the advanced skin cancer scourge among persons with albinism. She advocated for this during a courtesy visit by Anambra State Albinism Association (ASAA) to End Advanced Skin Cancer Scourge in Albinism Persons (ESCAP) at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi.

 Vivian who lead few executives and some suspected skin cancer patients emphasized on the importance of the program which is to end by November thanked the medical team for their efforts, she said that the association will engage in more publicity for Persons With Albinism to key in with the program and get tested to identify for possible skin cancer cells. The Dermatologist Dr Enemchukwu who received the patients and the executives stressed on the effects of UV rays of the sun on the skin of persons with Albinism, she said that the program have been ongoing every Wednesday since last year but only about 50 persons with Albinism have been treated. She pleaded with the association to help in awareness creation so more persons will be treated in order to safe more lives as the disease is deadly and have killed a lot of persons with Albinism.

Tests and Check-up were conducted for the patients present and samples taken for further testing.

The chief Dermatologist Dr Uche who was also appreciated the efforts of Anambra state Albinism Association-ASAA and seek for further partnership with the association.

Albinism Cluster Head Nene Bassey from JONAPWD AKWAIBOM STATE who was also present with few patients from her state appreciated the ESCAP for the works they’re doing towards saving lives and improving the living conditions of Persons With Albinism.
