The Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons With Disabilities, Chief Ayuba Gufwan has led the Management team of the Commission in pursuit of collaborative measures with the Nigerian Military recently in Abuja.

This synergy came as a result of increasing demand for the establishment of indigenous manufacturing of prosthetics and other Assistive devices needed by war veterans who lost parts of their body during combat missions within and outside the country.

Gufwan took time to appreciate the military apparatus for their consistent onslaught against insurgency and other security challenges in Nigeria.

“I want to sincerely appreciate our gallant soldiers for committing their lives to securing the country from external aggression, banditry and kidnappings in our land” he said.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa in his response,  gave the assurance that the Defense Headquarters is ever ready to mobilize support to the demands of the National Commission for Persons With disabilities.

“I am aware of the status and needs of Persons with Disabilities especially some of our soldiers who suffered arm loss, limb injuries and  others whose  body parts have been amputated in the line of duty” he added.

The Army General informed that this call has made his office to delve into the production of prosthetics in  Minna, Niger State to support the soldiers and give them hope to live again.

He further expressed his interest to extend the rehabilitation centers to Abuja to increase the rate of production in order to meet public demands.

General Musa then requested the Commission’s expertise in the specifications of the Assistive devices to suit the right purposes.
