International Committee for Sports for the Deaf (ICSD) has expressed commitment to development of Deaf Sports in Africa as a whole.

The Vice President of ICSD, Yutaka Osugi said this while paying a courtesy visit to Minister of Sports Development, Senator, John Owan Enoh-joe accompanied by Alhaji Dagbo Suleiman Saka, President of the Nigeria Deaf Sports Federation (NDSF), and Amuda Yusuf Ibrahim, President of Deaf Sports for West Africa.

The visit was centered at discussing the development of Deaf sports in Nigeria for enhanced international participation.

The Vice President used the opportunity to advise on the management of the NDSF, liaising with Confederation of Africa Deaf Sports (CADS).

A statement released by Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh-joe said he used the opportunity of the courtesy visit to present to the Vice President, Yutaka Osugi, an award of recognition for visiting Africa and Nigeria from the West Africa Deaf Sports.

INN reports that ICSD Vice President was visiting Kenya in East Africa and Nigeria in West Africa to observe the current situation of Deaf Sports in Africa.

Earlier, the regional President of the West Africa Deaf Sports Union (WADSU), Mr. Amuda Yusuf Ibrahim, along with some West Africa countries Presidents of Deaf Sports Federations, welcomed the visiting Vice-President of International Committee for Sports of the Deaf (ICSD) – Mr. Yutaka Osugi to Abuja, Nigeria on Saturday 23 March, 2024.

The visit, according to WADSU President was to discuss bilateral relationship and Sports development in West Africa region between WADSU and ICSD.

Its also to seek for partnership opportunities for Deaf Sports in West Africa as the region is classified as underdeveloped countries. The meeting was jointly held with Nigeria Deaf Sports Federation (NDSF) at MKO Abiola National Stadium Complex, Abuja Conference Hall.

Present at the meeting were: Amuda Yusuf Ibrahim, Yutaka Osugi, Mohammadou Hassane President of the Federation of the Deaf Sports Niger Republic (FENISSON), Kader Sadau, Secretary General FENISSON, Alhaji S. S. Dagbo President Nigeria Deaf Sports Federation (NDSF), Amah K. Dodji Vice President, Togo Deaf Sports Association (ASSOT) representing President ASSOT; Haruna Mohammad, Vice President, Nigeria National Association of the Deaf (NNAD), Adewale Adeyanju, Media and Publicity Officer WADSU, Oyedeji Olusegun Abayomi (NDSF Board Member SW), Umaru Zayyanu (NDSF Board Member NE) and several others.
