Persons with Disabilities in Anambra State are to henceforth be included in budgetary provisions especially in the area of scholarship in the state. The state governor, Willie Obiano, represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Disability Matters, Barrister Chuks Ezewuzie, made the disclosure during an interactive session with various cluster groups in the state. The meeting which was attended by the leaders of the disability groups and community leaders discussed various government policies, as well as processes and procedures for accessing Government programmes.
Ezewuzie remarked that Governor Willie Obiano Government’s Disability Inclusive policies have created a new dawn for Persons with Disabilities in Anambra State.
During the interactive sessions, Barrister Ezewuzie reminded the leaders of the Governor’s seven-point agenda for the State PWDs.
He further roll out some of the achievements of Governor Obiano to include, employment of Persons with Disabilities, subventions to Disability Organizations empowerment of PWD entrepreneurs, appointing members into cabinet including the state executive council among others.
“It’s now a matter of Rights and Law for every Person with Disability in Anambra to be educated. The Governor has made a budgetary provision for scholarships, and the office of the special adviser on disabilities is working with the Ministry of Education to ensure full implementation of the scheme in all schools across the state, concluded.
