The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Polytechnics and Other Higher Technical Education, Hon. Fuad Kayode Laguda, has reaffirmed his commitment to Persons with Disabilities by promoting inclusivity, accessibility, and equal opportunities for all, through effective legislation
In a statement the Lawmaker e-signed, to commemorate International Day of Persons with Disabilities, noted that, working together to break down barriers, challenge stigmas, and promote accessibility in all aspects of life are key areas to addressing some of the challenges faced by people with disability.
He said, “we commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a day to recognize the invaluable contributions and potential of individuals with disabilities.
“We acknowledge the challenges and barriers that people with disabilities face, and reaffirm our commitment to promoting inclusivity, accessibility, and equal opportunities for all, via effective legislation and creating a society that values diversity, promotes empowerment, and ensures that everyone has the chance to reach their full potential.
“As we celebrate this day, let us remember that disability rights are human rights. We must work together to break down barriers, challenge stigmas, and promote accessibility in all aspects of life. By this, we can unlock the full potential of individuals with disabilities and create a more just, equitable, and inclusive world for all.”
