Ekaete Judith Umoh, was presented with Award of Recognition by Plan International As a Woman Achiever and her contributions to Accelerating Gender Equality.
The award was presented in commemoration of the International Women’s Day.
The day is celebrated annually across the globe to raise awareness about issues that affect women and girls, as well as celebrate women who contributed to societal development and to humanity.
The theme for the 2024 International Women Day (IWD) Celebration is: “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress,” focusing on economic empowerment as a catalyst for creating inclusive and fair societies.
Plan International, is a development and humanitarian organisation that works together with children, young people, supporters and partners to strive for a just world, that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. It engages people and partners to empower children, young people and communities to make vital changes that tackle the root causes of discrimination against girls, exclusion and vulnerability. Plan International is a girl and child rights organisation, with the aims of implementing programs designed to strengthen and promote the rights of children and women in Nigeria.
Umoh was honored alongside other Gender Equality Advocates, such as Ene Obi, immediate past Country Director of Action Aid among others.
Ekaete is a gender and disability justice advocate, who has contributed a lot to gender and disability discourse using the intersectionality lens while pushing for disability justice.
