Ms. Nnene Bassey, an advocate for persons with disabilities has been appointed by Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom state as Special Assistant to the Governor on Persons with Disabilities.
This was contained in a press statement signed by Ekerete Udoh Chief press secretary to the Governor.
Ms. Nnene Bassey appointment is a welcomed development in the disability community. A leader in Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), Akwa Ibom State chapter, a disability rights advocate, President, Advocacy for Persons with Albinism Network, among other leadership strides, many persons with disabilities in the country see Nnene as a mentor.
