The Executive Secretary National Commission for Persons with Disabilities Mr.James David Lalu, says he will focus on ensuring that Disability Act is passed into law in all the states of the Federation, as part of his commitment towards improving the living standard of Persons with Disabilities (PWD).
Lalu said this when he received in his office the Kogi State Inclusive Eye Health Project and Advocacy Team.
The ES said the commission would collaborate with the Kogi State Government towards ensuring that the rights and privileges of PWDs are protected.
He said the domestication of the Disability Act, which he said has taken a central dimension, is indispensable.
The leader of the delegation, Bilikisu Yakubu, said the aim of the project was “to pilot an inclusive health approach that will improve access to eye care services for Persons with Disabilities in Kogi State.”
She said the project was designed to engage all Persons with Disabilities as stakeholders in the struggles against the discrimination of PWDs in Kogi State.
She thanked the ES for the opportunity and audience given to the team.
