The Executive Governor of Yobe State and the Chairman, National Caretaker Committee of All Progressives Congress APC, Mai Mala Buni has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for establishing the National Commission for Persons With Disabilities. Governor Mai Mala stated this when he received in audience birthday greetings from Comrade Muhammed Abba Isa, North East APC Leader of Persons With Disabilities. He commended Mr James Lalu, the Executive Secretary of the commission, who is a disability person and also leader of persons with disabilities of APC for the giant strides recorded within the shortest period of his appointment.
Comrade Abba in his earlier remark congratulated the governor and wish him good health as he appreciated the governor for acknowledging President Buhari for showing concern towards Disability issues and persons with disabilities in Nigeria which shows that he is indeed Master of Inclusion who is always thinking of the downtrodden.
The North East APC disabilities Leader also use the opportunity to call on the National Assembly to provide more funds to the disabilities commission to enable its meet its objectives.
He praised the good works of Mr James Lalu, Executive Secretary of National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD), with the little budget since the inception and therefore called for more budgetary allocation to the Commission so that the ideas of Mr. Lalu to change the narrative on disability would be materialized.
It will be recalled that upon signing the act of persons with disabilities three years ago, President Muhammadu Buhari set up the disabilities commission to spearhead various programmes and issues relating to persons with disabilities.
