The Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has revealed that N800 million was used to feed over 240,000 households in the state since January.

Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties, Olalekan Badmus, said the administration spends N100 million monthly to feed the vulnerable.

Speaking during the flag off of the eighth edition of the Food Support Scheme at the Local Government Service Commission, State Government Secretariat, Abere, Osogbo, Governor Oyetola, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji, said the scheme had helped to stimulate the state’s economy.

According to him, local productions of goods had been tremendously boosted to enhance the socio-economic activities in the state.

He said: “The initiative has impacted greatly the lives of the beneficiaries, particularly the vulnerable citizens ranging from the aged, the widows, people living with disabilities, youths, among others, with the multiplier effect on the status of the state’s economy.”

Badmus, who is in charge of the initiative, disclosed that it helps small business owners and the economy of the state by patronising them.

“It cost us N100 million to feed the vulnerable monthly and this is the 8th month that we commence the initiative—we have spent N800 million and feed 240,000 households in the state,” Badmus said.
